Peter Hartman - Managing Director: started his civil engineering career at Tarmac Plc. He quickly climbed the career ladder and before leaving managed Asphalt Production Units and plants throughout the UK. After a further spell with Limmer & Trinidad Asphalt Company working on Mastic/Asphalt Production and Surfacing Operations, he left, and in 1976 founded R. J. Dance (Contractors) Ltd. Peter has helped lead the company through changes which have included the opening of three regional offices, a tool hire business and the expansion of the business into the private sector. Peter has accumulated over 40 years experience in the Civil Engineering industry.

Stuart Kirk - Contracts Director: started his civil engineering career working hands-on as a surfacing operative. Tarmac Plc offered him further opportunities as a Foreman and there he quickly rose through the ranks. Stuart joined RjD in 1979 as Contracts Manager. Since then he has accumulated a wealth of experience winning and running contracts for London Boroughs, Businesses, Housing Associations and Private Organisations. Stuart has been instrumental in helping RjD obtain its quality standards and continues to influence the quality, safety and environmental policies.

Sandra Brincat -Finance Director: started her career at RjD in 1988 as an administrator. Sandra's financial acumen and organizational skills have helped her to become the Company Secretary and Financial Director. Sandra is the company environmental representative and has initiated a number of procedures within the company which helped us obtain our Environmental ISO certification.
Laurie Larter - General Manager (Southern Region): started his civil engineering career as a surface operative and quickly progressed through to senior management. Laurie ran his own business before joining RjD in 1999 as a Project Manager and is now part of the Senior Management Team. Laurie manages the Southern Region contracts, which include Brighton & Hove City Council. He is also a member of the Institute of Asphalt Technology.

Gary Bird - Operations Manager: started his engineering apprenticeship at Austin Rover. At Rover Gary quickly progressed through the ranks, performing technical and managerial roles. Gary also obtained many qualifications including City & Guilds Engineering. Gary moved into the plant hire business in 1996 and now runs a successful subsidiary to RjD, Belmont Tool Hire, providing servicing and support to our internal staff. He has recently taken on the role of operations manager for the company, servicing our logistical infrastructure.

Chris Wiles, I. Eng. FIHIE -Chris is the commercial manager and heads up the design & consultancy side of the company. He started his civil engineering career as an Engineering Assistant for Epsom and Ewell Borough Council. Whilst there he started his training for qualified status as an engineer. Chris Joined RjD in 1982 as a Contracts Supervisor and after a couple of promotions is now our Commercial Manager. His responsibilities include: estimating and pricing of all commercial projects and consulting with clients over the design aspects of our contracts. Chris obtained his qualified status in 1980.
